Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese therapy that has been used for over 5000 years. It is based on the free flow of energy or Qi (CHē) in the body's meridians, the pathways in which the Qi travels. Whenever there is an imbalance or disruption in the flow of Qi in the meridians, illness or pain occurs.
Acupuncture treats these imbalances by inserting hair thin needles into specific points along the body that influence the Qi in the meridians. Acupuncture is a safe, holistic, drug free therapy that encourages natural healing.
Your first visit will begin with in-depth questions and an assessment of your condition, a tongue inspection, pulse palpation and an initial treatment. The initial intake and treatment may take up to 1-½ hours to 2 hours depending on the complaint. The needles are retained for about 20- 45 minutes depending on the condition.
Your second appointment will be about 45 minutes to an hour. We will start by reviewing the results of the former treatment and then revise it if needed. Report any side effects or bruising. Tongue inspection and pulse palpation is done and we continue with the acupuncture treatment.
